Oranges, Seen through a Different Lens

Orange PlantationConnie Scheel has so much to share today about Orange essential oil. I can’t wait for you to read all about it. Except to say that you can follow Connie on her Facebook page: Catalysts to Connie’s Wellness and you’ll find Young Living Essential Oils and diffusers available at her Young Living World website, I’m getting out of the way for you to make this new essential oil discovery.

Oranges. What did you think of when you read that word? Orange.

HorizonI think of elementary school lunches and Horizons, a former attraction, at Epcot in Disney World. Anyone else remember Horizons? It was one of our family’s favorite Disney attractions, and we all still clearly remember the scent of orange at the end.

Juicy. Sweet. Refreshing. Easy to eat. Affordable. Relaxing. Wait… what? Relaxing?

Let’s take a look at oranges through the lens of essential oils (EOs). I’ve talked to many people this last month about Young Living’s Orange Essential Oil because it’s very affordable, it’s a scent that is well liked and may be good for many for common struggles particularly depression and anxiety.

Do you know that most of the therapeutic value of oranges is in the rind? So even if you eat oranges often you’re not reaping the full benefit the fruit has to offer. YL’s Orange EO is cold pressed from the rind of the oranges instead of a steam distiller process which results in a high quality food grade essential oil. Yes, you can eat and drink it! One of the easiest ways to use Orange EO is to drink it by adding a drop of two to your water or smoothie. Thankfully it’s quite affordable, too. Customer price is only $14.14 for 15 ml bottle plus shipping and tax. Members save 24%.

More and more people are turning to Orange EO to ease their anxiety and depression. The simple aroma of Orange essential oil has potential to immediately influence and begin correcting emotional imbalances in our bodies, minds and spirits. Unlike many anti- anxiety and antidepressant prescription medications, there are no negative side effects with Young Living essential oils.

You may recall from one of my earlier articles, The Scents of Learning, that when you smell an EO the olfactory receptors in your nose immediately respond and send signals to your brain. Orange EO is reported to send the signal of peace and happiness into your Being simply by breathing it in. It’s perfect in a diffuser, and you may find this method particularly helpful  if you struggle with anxiety or depression. If you don’t have a diffuser yet, you can take a deep inhale from the bottle or place a couple drops on a tissue to inhale through the day. You could also place a couple drops on an essential oil diffuser bracelet from my new Etsy shop, EO4Balance. Here’s a special coupon code ORG0525 for Free domestic Shipping just for Footsteps in Eden blog readers- good until Saturday 5/31.

Orange EO may also relieve fluid retention, calm children, ward off insects, aid in digestion, insomnia, and soften wrinkles. Isn’t the rind of an orange fascinating? And to think that most people throw them away!! You can apply Orange EO to the bottoms of your feet, reflexology style, or directly to your stomach to help with digestion. I recommend slightly diluting Orange EO in a 1:1 ratio with Young Living’s V-6, or other carrier oil to extend the life of your oil and to spread it around more efficiently and as a precaution for possible skin sensitivity.

Please avoid direct sunlight or UV rays to skin application location for up to 12 hours after applying Orange EO.

The high level of d-limonene in Orange EO is a potent antioxidant that protects healthy cells from damage, discourages cell mutations and other harmful cell reproduction. Therefore, there have been over 50 clinical studies for Orange EOs ability to combat tumor growth.* I’m so grateful for the work these researchers are doing with essential oils and cancer as I am a two time gynecological cancer Survivor and awareness advocate. It’s my sincere hope and prayer that essential oils will offer a way to treat cancer in a gentle yet targeted and potent way with the support of scientific evidence.
