Creating a safe oasis of relaxation has been the intention of Footsteps In Eden Reflexology since the beginning. We’ve accomplished that with soft and natural lighting, soothing colors, calming music, uplifting aromas, caring touch, a tasty mint, and fresh flowers. Oh, the flowers! I was recently reminded from the article, The Mental Health Benefits of Flowers that those of us of the “flower children” generation were on to something:
They found that patients in hospital rooms brightened with flowers and potted plants needed less postoperative pain medication, had lower systolic blood pressure and pulse rates, were less anxious and tired, and generally were in a more positive psychological state than patients in rooms without plants. Your living room isn’t a hospital room (at least in the best of times), but if flowers and plants do so many good things for hospital patients, they must make your day at least a little better.
Look at just those benefits listed above. Great reason to have fresh flowers in the reflexology room. They are so much more than just pretty and a little added touch. They help assist in restoration of our bodies, minds, and spirits toward greater balance, too.
