Benefits of Herbal Teas

herbteablogIt’s pretty well known that chamomile tea in the evening may provide a gentle prelude to a good night’s sleep. I was recently reminded by a Footsteps in Eden client, how a cup of hot tea was the perfect touch to a day which included reflexology and a lavender with Epsom salts bath, all of which she believed helped her sleep soundly that night — something she hadn’t done in a long time. How timely for my client to mention this the very week our focus is on herbal teas.

You’ll find the list of suggestions broken down into several categories of benefits of herbal teas. We would love to hear which ones you choose to try and how they helped. (We encourage you to leave comments on our Facebook page.) Also, as a reminder, if you are not using your own homegrown herbs, we encourage you to choose high quality teas to reap all the potential benefits. (We suggest organic.) Locally — Memphis area — Flavor Mavens is a great source. You’ll find them at some of the local farmers markets and through West Wind Farms. Numi, Choice, and Traditional Medicinals, to name a few, offer organic teas that may be purchased at most grocery stores.

Note: The shiny gold teapot nestled next to the peppermint plant is a special treasure.  I remember as a very little girl, my grandparents receiving it as a gift on the occasion of their Golden (50th) Wedding Anniversary in 1956.
