Reflexology May Increase Your Self-Respect by Helping You Find Your Ability to Forgive

Dandelion seeds in the morning sunlight blowing away across a frUnforgiveness and other negative emotions often play havoc with our health and wellness, barring us from the freedom to be well — to have “wellth”. We shared an excellent article, (Holding Grudges: Forgiveness Key to Healthy Body), on this topic yesterday in Footsteps In Eden Reflexology’s weekly email update, with a promise to share more about reflexology’s role in emotional healing.

First, let me share an example of just how much unforgiveness can weigh us down. The story goes: A teacher had her students personalize a potato for each person they were unable to forgive. Students were required to carry the potatoes around in a sack 24/7, even keeping them at their bedside. It quickly became apparent just how much these grudges were weighing for the one unwilling to forgive. As though the weight were not enough, think of the self-respect lost to the energy dedicated to lugging around that baggage. The other person wasn’t affected at all by the burden. To forgive became very desirable!

How do we let go of unforgiveness and other negative emotions? Without disclosing names/details, emotional releases have occurred or been encouraged with a later release right in our peaceful reflexology setting. Personally, I believe all healing is through the power of God working in each life. It’s an humbling honor when He allows me to be a part of that process. So, how does this work?

The foot map of reflexology shows the correlation between the organs, glands, and parts of the body and their reflex areas on the feet. As these reflex areas receive the caring touch of the practitioner, acupressure points are also affected. A continuing ed course, “Acupoint Reflexology®,” helped in learning how acupressure/acupuncture points directly relate to many physical and emotional imbalances. During sessions incorporating some of the techniques learned there, the techniques inlcude gentle holds of specific points, and less thumb and finger walking. The results are often incredible relaxation, with immediate emotional release or release over the next few days. And with a lighter burden to carry, you may even respect yourself more.
