A Season for Thieves

imageThis week I’ve been especially thankful for Thieves essential oil products. With a family member struggling through a staph infection, we did much cleansing in their home with Thieves Household Cleaner. After reading Connie’s article you will understand why. Thank you to Connie Scheel for once again sharing about these amazing essential oils, and this month about Thieves Essential Oil in particular. To learn more and to order the oils, you may visit Connie’s Young Living website right here. Also follow Connie on Facebook: Catalysts to Connie’s Wellness.

A Season for Thieves
by Connie Scheel

Autumn is my favorite time of the year. I love the cooler temperatures, changing colors of nature and mugs of warm apple cider. I long for the scents of clove and cinnamon preferably in an apple pie! My post last month explored clove and cinnamon bark essential oils, and this month it’s all about Thieves blend EO.

My first experience with Thieves EO was at my former landlord’s bathroom sink several years ago. I had never heard of Young Living and didn’t know a thing about essential oils, but I fell in love with Thieves foaming soap right then and there because it smelled AMAZING and didn’t have any harmful harsh chemicals. I still use that soap, and now also use Young Living’s Thieves blend in lots of other ways too.

It’s called Thieves because the blend (aka recipe) stems from merchants and spice-traders turned thieves, who robbed plague victims in the 1400s. They rubbed themselves with clove, rosemary, cinnamon and other aromatics to boost their immune systems and protect themselves from the plague. A few were caught and gave up their recipe to spare their lives. That was the beginning of the end of the plague. Quite an amazing testament to the powers of nature!

Young Living’s Thieves is a blend of clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus radiata and rosemary essential oils. This powerful blend is anti-infectious, antiviral, antibacterial and antiseptic. There are at least 100 ways to use Thieves from toothpaste to killing toxic mold. The safest and simplest way to use Thieves is to diffuse it. Refresh your memory about what diffusing means and the natural wonders of clove and cinnamon bark EOs here.

There’s fascinating research on the effectiveness of diffusing Thieves EO. Weber State University in Utah did a study in 1996 that showed diffusing Thieves EO for just 20 minutes killed 99.2% and 99.3% of all airborne Micrococcus luteus bacteria (a common bacteria) in 2 separate trials. The longer the EO was diffused the greater reduction in microorganisms! Another scientific study at Weber State University showed that Thieves EO had a 99.96% kill rate of airborne bacteria. The warm and cozy smell is wonderful especially in the cooler months while working to keep you and your family healthy.

Most of us are well aware of the abundance of bacteria, fungi and viruses surrounding us every day, and Thieves is a non toxic, safe, and naturally powerful way to help protect ourselves. The magic is in the blend of different EOs that creates this powerful marriage of immunity boosters.

Note: Thieves foaming hand soap is the one so many clients of Footsteps in Eden Reflexology so often mention after visiting our restroom. It has a wonderful scent and your hands feel so clean.
